Loop Cable for Vehicle Detection
An inductive vehicle detection system consists of a loop detector and loop cable. The loop cable is installed beneath the road surface in a rectangular or suitable loop configuration and connected to the vehicle loop detector.
When a vehicle passes over or stops above the loop, the metallic mass of the vehicle changes the inductance of the loop. The connected detector recognises this change and activates its output according to the system configuration.
Loop Cable for Parking Gate Barriers
The cable is suitable for automatic parking barrier vehicle detection. Depending on the barrier control system, the inductive loop can be used for automatic opening, free exit, vehicle presence detection or safety functions.
Loop Cable for Automatic Gates
Vehicle loop cable can also be installed with compatible automatic sliding and swing gate systems. The connected loop detector provides a vehicle detection signal to the compatible gate control board.
Recommended Loop Installation
For a typical installation, cut a groove approximately 3–5 mm wide and 40–50 mm deep in the road or driveway surface. Install the loop cable carefully inside the groove and seal it using a suitable road-loop sealant.
The exact number of cable turns depends on the dimensions of the loop and the required inductance. The completed loop should be tested before final sealing.

Loop Cable Installation Procedure
- Mark the required vehicle detection loop position.
- Cut the required groove into the road surface.
- Clean and dry the groove thoroughly.
- Install the loop detector cable with the required number of turns.
- Route the feeder cable toward the loop detector cabinet.
- Test the loop resistance and inductance before sealing.
- Seal the road groove using suitable loop sealant.
- Connect the cable to the vehicle loop detector.
- Configure detector sensitivity and frequency.
- Test vehicle detection and gate or barrier operation.
